2020 QMWS Christmas Party Report – From our President Dr Ira van der Steenstraten
It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces, our leaders both present and emerging, last Sunday at our 2020 QMWS Christmas party. We very much enjoyed the inspiring words by A/Prof Bev Rowbotham “Is there a Doctor in the Boardroom?”, hearing from the 2020 Bursary and 2019 UQ Jean and Joyce Stobo Prize winners and being updated by Dr Johanna Skinner about the recent developments regarding the “Stories from the Heart”. The party was made possible with the support from Family Doctors Plus, Team Medical Supplies and Queensland Xray.
We are grateful to have received a grant from the Office for Women so the very talented videographer (and medical student) Hanh Nguyen from Cedar Nest Productions could capture the party through photos and the message of QMWS by video. Keep an eye out for our website and Facebook page, (don’t forget to like our page) as we will be posting these photos and videos soon.
Thank you to all those who donated handbags for the charity ‘Share the Dignity’ and participated in our raffle. We have raised $500 to go towards our 2021 QMWS/NCWQ bursary! Details of the prize winners are listed below.

We hope to see you all at our AGM on Thursday 18th February 2021 where David Roland, psychologist and author of ‘The Power of Suffering’, will be speaking to us about what post-traumatic growth is and how to achieve it. Very topical and just what we need after such a challenging year.
