Thank you all for attending the 2023 QMWS August dinner. The QMWS August dinner meeting was a great success with two wonderful presenters, Prof Catherine Jones and Ms Dominique Lamb.
First, Professor Catherine Jones, I-Med consultant Radiologist, recognised in the 2021 Brilliant Women in Digital Health awards for her contributions to development of clinically excellent diagnostic imaging technology, gave us a quick sneak peak of her current work in how AI can be utilised in the field of radiology as a useful tool for medical imaging interpretation and workflow. She will be the guest speaker at the next President’s Chat, which promises to be a very interesting conversation with the QMWS President.
Ms Dominique Lamb, QLD small business commissioner managed to quieten an entire room of medical women, hanging by her lips as she presented us with her personal, touching and inspirational story. A narrative of overcoming obstacles, getting to know your worth and living by your values. These values were highlighted throughout her presentation as the thread through her life and her career, leading her to unexpected places where she thrived and excelled as an empowered leader. Her nurturing nature shone through in her life story and her legacy will likely be one of providing support to others. Specifically, those in small businesses at present, as she fulfils the role of Queensland Small Business Commissioner.
She did not only provide us with a powerful inspiring story. She left us with a breath of knowledge in where small businesses can find support, grants, mentoring and advice.
The audience reached consensus about Ms Lamb’s presentation being highly appreciated, valued and incredibly informative. All attendees “wished they had had received the information provided much sooner” as it held a wealth of information for small businesses.
The evening itself, was well organised and it was once again a nice place to network, socialise and get inspired. I look forward to attending the next QMWS event.
