The Queensland Medical Women’s Society was fortunate to host a Mentor Mixer Brunch in March 2024 at Lovewell Cafe, Mount Gravatt. It was a delightful occasion where mentors and mentees came together to share their medical experiences and expertise over a charming afternoon tea with a picturesque view of Brisbane City.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our inspiring and enthusiastic mentors: Dr. Ira van der Steenstraten, Dr. Krystle Lander, Dr. Brooke O’Brien, Dr. Donya Sabet, Dr. Shabnam Gujadhur, Dr. Emilia Dauway, Dr. Kathryn Mainstone, Dr. Lydia Pitcher and Dr. Emmily Bueno de Mesquita who joined the event.
The event provided our mentees with invaluable one-on-one interactions with mentors who shared their wisdom, offered invaluable career advice, shed light on the intricacies of balancing professional and personal life, and addressed various student queries. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from students expressing gratitude for the enriching experience and personal insights gained underscored the event’s success. It was a truly impactful afternoon, fostering fruitful exchanges, knowledge transfer, and a renewed sense of purpose among aspiring medical professionals.
We trust that events like these will continue to foster meaningful connections between our mentees and mentors, allowing them to explore different facets of the medical field one-on-one.
We eagerly anticipate your participation in our next Mentor Mixer. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.
If you’re interested in attending our next mixer as a mentor, please reach out to our student representative coordinator.
Together, let’s continue to inspire and empower the next generation of medical professionals.
