The Queensland Medical Women’s Society hosted their latest Mentor Mixer at The Collective in Palm Beach on the 13 of July, 2024. This special event connected mentors and mentees from across the Gold Coast in a welcoming and interactive environment.
During the mixer, mentees had the opportunity for meaningful one-on-one discussions with all the mentors as they rotated around the tables during the course of the event. These conversations provided valuable insights into career paths, balancing professional and personal lives, research opportunities and other student concerns. Furthermore, limited tickets and table seating rotations ensured all mentees and mentors had allocated time to engage and interact.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated and enthusiastic mentors: Dr. Ira van der Steenstraten, Dr. Chloe Hang, Dr. Emi Khoo, Dr. Shelley Walker, Dr. Louise Ninnes, Dr. Emily Guazzo, and Dr. Wisalya Wijesinghe. We also wish to thank our sponsor, the Medical Indemnity Protection Society (MIPS), for their generous support.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from our mentees highlighted the importance of these mixers. As medicine can be a difficult career to navigate, our mentor mixers hope to foster strong connections between mentors and mentees, promoting the exploration of various aspects of the medical field. We look forward to seeing you at our next Mentor Mixer. Please stay tuned for updates on our website and social media channels.
