National Reconciliation Week is held from May 27 to June 3.
QMWS stands with all Australians during this week, National Reconciliation Week, to learn about our shared cultures and histories.
The Uluru Statement from the heart is an invitation to the Australian people, from First Nation Australians. It asks us to support a First Nations voice in the constitution and begin our journey to a better Australia.
QMWS is committed to working towards equitable health outcomes for all, especially women and children. We are collaborating with colleagues from all around Australia to progress a number of initiatives:
- the AFMW Reconciliation Action Plan
- Establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representative to AFMW Council
- The Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Scarf Project
- Establish an AFMW Special Interest Group for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women and Medicine
- The Inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women and Medicine bursary, funded by the Scarf Project.
