QMWS President and Vice President at the 2023 AGM and Annual Dinner.

2023 QMWS February Dinner and AGM – Recap

Thank you to those that attended the 2023 QMWS February dinner and AGM. It was wonderful to be able to come together again in person and we thank our sponsor Sullivan & Nicolaides Pathology.

The feedback about Dr Anita Sharma’s presentation was very positive and we hope you found it as inspiring as we did. An increase in awareness of gender differences in cardiovascular disease and the differences in clinical presentation in women will help all of us, both as doctor and patient. You can watch Dr Sharma’s presentation here

Ms Kathy Cavanaugh, bursary officer of the National Council of Women in Queensland (NCWQ) received a Purple Bush Medicine Leaf scarf, kindly donated by Ms Pia du Pradal, from our bursary team, Drs Lydia Pitcher and Kathryn Mainstone to thank her for all her help with the QMWS bursaries. We also heard from Lucinda Connolly, recipient of the 2022 AMAQ (QMWS) Professor Tess Cramond Memorial Bursary, what winning this bursary has meant to her.

Thank you to those that attended via Zoom. We will continue to improve our online presence to ensure that everyone who cannot attend in person will be able to enjoy our events as well.

We are very excited about starting a new year with our new team of committee members.

Please keep an eye out for new initiatives on our website and social media channels – Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin.

We look forward to seeing you at our next dinner on 25th May 2023 with guest speaker Dr Johanna Skinner, GP and writer.

Kind regards,
Dr Ira van der Steenstraten
President QMWS
