About The Guest Speaker
Dr Johanna Skinner

Dr Johanna Skinner obtained her medical degree from Flinders University, South Australia. She went on to attain her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice followed by a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Canberra. In addition to the full scope of General Practice medicine Dr Skinner has particular interests in women’s health, mental health and paediatrics.
She enjoys writing both fiction and non-fiction. In 2020, Johanna Skinner and Jane Connolly collected stories and poems written by Australians during the early days of the COVID 19 pandemic and compiled them into an anthology. ‘Stories from the Heart, Penning the Pandemic,’ was published by the Queensland Writers Centre and provides a unique record of the pandemic and its impact on the lives of ordinary Australians. Her fictional stories have long listed and short listed both in Australian and overseas competitions and her novel, ‘The Truth About My Daughter,’ short listed in the Hawkeye Manuscript Development Award in 2023.
